"If this isn't the most
delightfully local
book of poetry ever published about
Brisbane, I'd like
to know what is."

From: Apology
It's an undercover
town
where stones are flesh and flesh are stones;
in parents' arms
children drown
and nursery rhymes are played on bones.
For nothing is what it
seems
(it's too hot for reality);
short on life, we live in
dreams
wondering what we're meant to be.
But our dreams carry
wonder.
We thrive in their humidity,
exploding with the thunder
as it
shakes the umbrella tree.
